The Children’s Guardian Foundation was founded to lead the battle against pedestrian injuries due to traffic accidents, especially at the elementary and middle school crossings.
We have decided to be direct. We are asking you for money. We realize that we could lead up to it gently,- but this money is needed to save our children’s lives and there is nothing gentle about a child being killed in a traffic accident. As you know, we have a major safety problem in the United States. Every year many lives are lost and changed forever as a result of pedestrian traffic accidents. Children represent far too many of these statistics, and few tragedies can compare with the immense impact a child's death has on the family and the community.
According to the National Center for Statistics and Analysis, there are almost 58 million children 15 years old and under in the United States. The statistics show that as much as 60 percent of pedestrian accidents involving children occur when victims are crossing the streets. The appalling fact is that these accidents can be easily prevented, yet little is being done to do so. The current underfunding of the public schools is one of the reasons for this condition.
We have designed a direct solution to this devastating problem. The “Crosswalk Guardian” is a hand-held brightly flashing stop sign that provides exceptional visibility to motorists and will reduce traffic accidents at pedestrian crossings, especially at the local schools. The exceptional visibility of the Crosswalk Guardian sign is a distinct advantage over the conventional paddle sign currently used by the crossing guards throughout the U.S. The Crosswalk Guardians have been designed to enhance child safety at the busy school intersections as well as on field trips, during the night events, emergency drills and lock-downs. The enhanced visibility gives children the much needed protection in any weather, allowing the motorists to react sooner.
The mission of the Children's Guardian Foundation is to prevent death and injuries to all pedestrians, especially our children, by providing the Crosswalk Guardians to every elementary, middle school and crossing guard in the United States. We need your support to achieve this mission.
